Just Fit.Clip.Core, it couldn't be easier!
For years, the Clipacore XPRESSCUT Pro kit has been a trusted companion for trade professionals, offering a comprehensive solution for a wide range of core drilling tasks. Once fitted, Clipacore gives stability, precision and speed to any coring task, just Fit.Clip.Core, it couldn't be easier!
But the demands of the modern job site are always evolving. That's why we're excited to announce the next generation of core drilling excellence. The XPRESSCUT Pro is being replaced by a new, upgraded line-up of three distinct kits, each housed in a stronger, more durable case and specifically tailored to the needs of today's professionals: The Plumbers Kit, the Electricians Kit, and the all-encompassing XPRESSCUT Complete Kit.
This new range isn't just a replacement; it's a revolution. By listening to the trades, Nerrad Tools, which makes Clipacore, has created specialised kits to ensure plumbers and electricians have the precise core sizes they need most often. At the same time, the Complete Kit provides the ultimate versatility for the multi-trade expert.
The Core of the Matter: A Professional's Guide to Core Bit Sizes
Choosing the right diameter core bit is crucial for a clean, efficient, and professional job. While many sizes are versatile, certain diameters have become industry standards for specific tasks. Here’s a breakdown of what each core size is typically used for.
For Plumbers and Gas Engineers:
A plumber's day can involve anything from small pipework to large soil stacks, and having the right core bit is non-negotiable.
-
22mm & 28mm: These smaller, often longer (300mm) bits are perfect for running gas supply lines and boiler condensate pipes through exterior walls, providing a neat hole that's easy to seal.
-
42mm: This is a go-to size for 32mm (1 ¼") waste pipes, such as from a bathroom basin. It provides enough clearance for the pipe and any slight fall required for drainage without creating an oversized hole.
-
52mm: When dealing with 40mm (1 ½") waste pipes from sinks or baths, the 52mm core bit is the industry-standard choice. It allows for the perfect amount of space to seal around the pipe effectively.
-
112mm & 117mm: These sizes are commonly used for passing 110mm soil pipes through a wall, although sometimes the socket of the pipe may require some additional chiseling. The 117mm is also a frequent choice for installing standard boiler flues.
-
127mm (5-inch): This is the ideal size for most modern boiler flues, ensuring a snug fit for the flue terminal to be properly sealed against the building fabric. It's also used for 110mm soil pipes, particularly when using solvent-weld fittings which have a smaller collar than push-fit versions.
-
152mm (6-inch): For larger penetrations, such as extractor fan ducting, tumble dryer vents, and larger soil pipe systems, the 152mm core is the tool for the job. It's also used for soil pipe installations where a PipeSnug is being fitted, as this requires a 152mm hole for a 110mm pipe.
For Electricians:
Electricians require a range of core sizes for everything from single cables to bringing in the main supply.
-
25mm (1-inch): A useful size for creating neat holes for running single electrical conduits.
-
42mm & 52mm: These versatile sizes are perfect for running multiple cables, larger conduits, or creating entry points for armoured cables into a building.
-
65mm: A great general-purpose bit for electricians, ideal for creating openings for small cable trays or clusters of conduits.
-
112mm: An essential size for electricians, often used for bringing in meter tails to a consumer unit or for larger service entries.
-
152mm: When dealing with major cable ducting or ventilation for server rooms and other high-load environments, the 152mm core provides the necessary large, clean opening.
